Schrager & Clarke Gallery is pleased to present a summer group show of work by five local artists, each working in a different medium. The group includes:

Susan Applegate, of Applegate pioneer fame, lives and paints in Yoncalla, OR. Her oil paintings depict the magical landscape of the Umpqua Basin.

Thanhbinh Duong, known as “Tea,” is a potter who maintains a studio in the coast range outside of Junction City. He has constructed two wood-firing kilns, an Anagama and a Naborigama, in which his large textured pots are fired. He also utilizes more traditional colored glazes on some pieces.

Susan Lowdermilk, a Eugene printmaker and artist book maker, teaches at Lane Community College and has exhibited her work extensively in Oregon, nationally, and internationally.

Craig Spilman, who retired from teaching at Lane Community College, works in a variety of mediums.
In this exhibit, he will show his recent graphite drawings from the House Series.

Betsy Wolfston, a local ceramicist, is known for her small wall-mounted montages. The pieces in this show feature a new technique, in which she paints underglazes on wet clay and then cuts the image through the painted surface. The clay is then high-fired and outlined in gold.

An opening reception for this exhibit will be held on Saturday, July 19, from 4:00 – 6:00 in the afternoon. Join us to meet the artists and enjoy their work. We will be open for First Friday ArtWalk on August 1st from 5:30-8pm.
